Programme:

John Field (1782-1837)     Piano works arranged for Quartet by Sebastian Adams
Aleksandra Vrebalov (1970)     Pannonia Boundless
Boccherini (1748-1805)     Guitar quintet in D major G448 Fandango
Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)     String Quartet No.6 Op.80

The Esposito Quartet comprises four of our most distinguished musicians with a combined bounty of experience as recital artists, orchestral leaders and teachers, whose common love of the quartet treasury brought them together in 2010.

Redmond O’Toole is recognised as one the most distinctive and original guitarists of his generation. He was the first in Ireland to adopt Paul Galbraith’s ‘Brahms guitar’. This ground-breaking instrument and technique uses an 8-string guitar in the position of a cello.

The central work of tonight’s performance is certainly the quintet by Boccherini, a delicious piece which shows the composer being influenced by the music of his adoptive country especially in the last movement, the justly famous fandango.

Followed by a Meet the Artist reception. All Welcome.

Admission: €20 (€10 students on the night), €5 Children
