To celebrate the opening of the contemporary exhibition Richard Bolhuis; Underground Bliss, there will be a solo performance by Richard Bolhuis at 8pm followed by a very special live mix from 9pm till late by nationally renowned DJ Cian Ó Cíobháin.
Originally from west Kerry, but based in Galway, Cian Ó Cíobháin has been presenting world-renowned, alternative music radio show An Taobh Tuathail twenty years this year. In terms of clubbing, he's best known as the founder of influential Galway club night 110th Street.
Speaking ahead of his performance in Sligo, Cian said, “The friendship between Rich and I is one of those that was made possible by this Information Age. We’ve never met in person but have exchanged hundreds of emails over the years. I’m not sure how this came to be, but I’m guessing that he may have sent me one of his compositions, which I subsequently played on the radio. Since then, I’ve played countless more tracks of his and would consider myself a big fan. I look forward very much to meeting him in Sligo.”
Cian has long been driven to find beautiful and sometimes extreme music, from almost any era or genre, to share with his listeners, and over the past two decades, the show has attracted a loyal worldwide following. Cian’s listeners are a vital part of the show, often alerting him to tracks or artists that might not have previously been on his radar.
