Blog a bed this weekend at Dorm

We are delighted to announce a very exciting competition for bloggers.

As you may know, this weekend The Model reopens its doors following a two year redevelopment which has seen the centre increase in size by a third. The new Model is now home to a separate restaurant and coffee dock, a bookshop, a new gallery circuit on the first floor, a purpose built performance space, and nine truly impressive artist studios with enviable views of the region.

Events planned to welcome you all into the new Model for the weekend include the exhibition opening for Dorm, a public sleep over project, critical runs with artist Thierry Geoffroy, screenings, an archive,Fresh Air with Donal Dineen and guests as well as performances by a number of the visiting artists collectives.

The sleepover is fully subscribed at the moment but we do have two beds kept aside to give away to blogging friends of The Model who are happy to blog about their sleepover experience! All you have to do is leave a comment below, with a link to your blog, and tell us why you want to sleepover at The Model.

The Public Sleep Over Project (PSP) is presented as an inventive partnership with IT Sligo ;up to eighty guests will bed down on innovative sleeping apparatuses designed by SIT design students.

Full details of the Public Sleepover Project and a list of frequently asked questions can be found here

The winner will be announced on Thursday afternoon.

(please note this is for one blogger plus a friend and you are responsible for your own travel arrangements to Sligo)

Xavier McDaniel: Great idea. Well, I haven‘t been invited to a sleepover in fifteen long years. And I always wanted to know what happens in art gallery once the doors are locked and the lights go off. Does the art come down off the walls? Does it use the bathroom, etc? the blog- www.balls.ie (sports-themed but we‘re happy to big up the arts) Apr. 29, 2010
John Finn: I write at www.techmodelrailroadclub.com and also at www.culch.ie and I would like to sleepover at The Model simply because it sounds like a once off experience and I am curious to see what will happen. Apr. 29, 2010
