 Getting to The Model

By Car: Coming from Dublin/Galway, follow the N4 onto the Sligo Ring Road and through several sets of traffic lights until you cross Hughes Bridge. Take the right turn as you cross the bridge, onto Markievicz Road, (signposted for the Town Centre). Follow the one-way system, taking a left onto Connaughton Road. Continue straight up Connaughton Road and pull into the second car park on your right hand side - you will see The Model building. The first car park you enter is a metered daily car park and costs €3 per day, Mon-Sat 8.30am-6.30pm and Public Holidays 12-6pm. A smaller carpark, down the hill and accessible from the first car park, has hourly parking charges. There is free parking outside of the times mentioned above, and all day Sunday.

By Bike: If you can, why not reduce your carbon footprint and bike it to The Model. The building is easily accessible for cyclists and has nine bicycle parking spaces available, which are sited at the Connaughton Road entrance to The Model. Each rack provides a secure locking point for two bikes.

By train: Seven Trains from Dublin (Connolly) daily. Journey time 3hrs. www.irishrail.ie

 Wheelchair Accessibility

The Model aims to be fully accessible, but some access issues are still being addressed.

There is a dedicated disabled parking space in Connaughton Road Car Park. From the Connaughton Road entrance, a lift beside the staircase provides access down one floor to Reception. 

Please note: if you enter the building from The Mall, the lift that gives access to the atrium space is currently out of order and repairs are expected later in 2026. In the meantime, gallery access is available through the door to the left of the stairs at the Connaughton Road entrance.

These doors remain locked for security reasons, but a staff member can unlock them on request.

There are also two dedicated accessible parking spaces beside The Model, accessed via the private driveway off The Mall.

The café in the foyer can be reached using the ramp at The Mall entrance. Alternatively, the main building can be accessed through the service entrance on the right-hand side of the building, via the driveway off The Mall. A bell is there to alert staff for entrance.

Directions to the accessible parking on The Mall

Follow the directions to Connaughton Road, then take the second right onto Lake Isle Road. At the crossroads, turn left onto The Mall. The Model driveway is located approximately 500 metres along on the left-hand side and is marked with a wheelchair accessibility sign.

Please note: driveway access is reserved for staff, deliveries, and visitors requiring wheelchair access only.
