The Model in May

We’ve lots going on at the minute so here is a copy of the newsletter we just sent out. The RSAG tickets have already been won but if you want to be on future monthly email outs just enter your email on the homepage www.modelart.ie

Faith. Geopolitics. Art

We’re currently installing our next exhibition Medium Religion; a major international exhibition produced by ZKM and brought to Ireland by The Model, which provocatively enters sideways into the world of religions. This multi-layered project tackles contemporary representations of religion and religiosity, which is extremely timely given the coverage this week of Dermot Aherne’s proposed “Blasphemy Bill”. Read our blog on whether this exhibition might test the bill, or see flickr to see pictures of the first works arriving to Castle Street.

We’ll email you an invitation next week but Medium Religion opens with a FREE curators talk from Boris Groys at 5pm on Saturday 23rd May and continues until Sun 16th August, with a FREE Public Symposium on Sat 20th June and free tours in June & July.

Initial sound recordings taken in the Model building have been relayed through a number of incredible sound artists and musicians, and we’re very excited to include influential Electronic musician and composer Bibio to the Relay roll call.
