Join us for a National Day of Action next Friday

Do you work in the arts in Sligo or North Leitrim? Please join us here next Friday at 3pm for the National Campaign for the Arts. National Day of Action. We have invited local representatives to meet us here and discuss the fundamental importance of the arts to Ireland’s economic recovery.

We believe the arts are a significant driver of employment, cultural tourism and the creative industries. We also believe that Ireland´s global reputation has much to do with its unique arts and culture. Any further cuts to arts funding will be hugely damaging to Ireland´s future.

So join us here at The Model next Friday at 3pm . We will ask our representatives to make the following case:

1. To maintain current levels of funding to the agencies for the arts, including Irish Film Board, Culture Ireland and in particular The Arts Council, whose investment in the development of Irish artists generates the cultural assets that are central to our future.
2. To make significant new funding and initiatives available to the arts and culture sector to build on its cultural tourism potential, through the creation of a dedicated cultural tourism fund.
3. To protect local authority arts funding and its essential role in the cultural diversity, social cohesion, economic impact, participation and identity of communities and regions.

We need your support, we need to gather as many people here as possible. Please share this information with your colleagues, friends and family.
