For you, only you.

We’ve been working toward this project since the new year so we’re delighted the opening weekend is nearly upon us. For you, only you is an interdisciplinary art project from UK artist Sonia Boyce which encompasses visual art and music with a three-screen film installation being shown in Castle House on Castle Street from November 1-16, and corresponding live choral performances taking place in Drumcliffe Church, Sligo Abbey and Markree Castle Chapel during the weekend (1-2 November). You can read about the project in full on our site

Sonia has arrived in Sligo and is putting the finishing touches to the 3-screen installation which looks magnificent in the retail space within Castle House. We were really excited to discover Castle House on Castle Street in Sligo and delighted when the developers; Kevinsfort Ltd, offered the space to us for the show. It is a beautiful building located on the site of the old hardware store Woods’ and has within it the newly restored rooms from the original Knights of Columbanus Club. These Columbanus rooms have been beautifully renovated to their former glory and it will be a real delight to welcome people back into them for the opening on friday evening.

The 8-strong choral group Alamire should also be at the opening on Friday evening in advance of their live performances with Mikhail Karikis on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd Nov. Each performance will be tailored to the unique environment it is being performed in, starting with what promises to be a hugely evocative performance in Sligo Abbey on Saturday afternoon at 3pm, and continuing with performances in Drumcliffe Church and Markree Castle Chapel.

There are full details on our site of course, and a taster clip of the live performance. Tickets are just €5 and we are all crossing our fingers for good weather on Saturday for the Sligo Abbey performance. The performance is just 45mins long and will be partly outdoors so although the forecast is for a dry, bright day, you do need to wrap up warm!

Emer and I went to Stowe in the summer to experience the show and the live performances first hand and I think it is fair to say we were blown away. You can read our blog from the trip here>

the entire Model team will be at Castle house for the opening on Friday evening at 7.30pm, which is preceded by what promises to be a really interesting panel discussion with all of the key artistic contributors- Sonia Boyce, Mikhail Karikis and David Skinner (Alamire) at 6.30pm, which will be chaired by Model Director/Curator Seamus Kealy.

We look forward to welcoming you to Castle House on Friday, and hopefully to some of the other unusual venues over the course of the weekend.
