Through correspondence, press reports, and original artworks, this exhibition provides a revealing insight into the tenacious efforts of Nora Niland in founding an art collection for Sligo. In doing so, Nora was one of the first to place the visual arts, and the work of artists at the centre of Sligo’s social and cultural life.

The Model invites you to explore at first-hand, the commitment and charm Nora Niland employed during her years as Librarian and Museum Curator, as she grew the Sligo Municipal Collection which now bears her name.
