As part of our commitment to demonstrate the breadth of The Niland Collection throughout 2019, The Model presents Dorothy Cross, Croquet, an installation work dating from 1994. During that period, Cross became interested in cow-skins and udders, and used both in her work in surreal or absurd settings to challenge concepts of the masculine and the feminine, as well as the civilized and the primal. Croquet and a number of Cross’s other works from this period are part of the Graeve Collection, which is on long term loan to The Niland Collection.
