OLD HANNAH and WIRE & WOOL met while touring in the French Alps in the summer of 2016. After receiving a great reception on the continent, they’re joining forces and ‘bringing it all back home’ for a limited run of double-header shows in their respective homelands – Ireland & Scotland. The “Celtic Kingdom” tour is a unique opportunity to see two of the most exciting up-and-coming folk/roots bands that these shores have to offer.
Hailing from Co. Sligo, Old Hannah are a foursome schooled in the deep rooted discipline of folk, country and roots. Their music weaves lapsteel, banjo, mandolin, guitar, piano and beautifully arranged vocals into songs that are at once contemporary yet filled with the lore of generations past. Renowned for bringing audiences to a standstill with their stunning four-part harmonies, Old Hannah will also whip them into a fiery frenzy with their fast-picking and powerful tunes.
Wire & Wool are a seven-piece Scottish band who came together in Dundee in 2014, and have been gaining notoriety for their energetic sets and fired up sessions ever since. Drawing on influences from bluegrass to roots, to jazz, blues and Scottish music, they’re well renowned on Scotland’s festival circuit and will be taking their magnificent country brawl to audiences across Ireland, Europe and hopefully further afield throughout 2017 as they tour their debut album.
