The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.

Jessie Whitehead, voice
Sligo Baroque Orchestra
September IMA is a program devised by Rod Alston and Steve Wickham which focuses on the music of Scotland, of Edinburgh around 1740. It is particularly the view of Scottish music through the minds of two Italian composers who were resident in Edinburgh at that time: Francesco Geminiani and Francesco Barsanti. The IMA will feature Sligo Baroque Orchestra performing concerti grossi by both composers and one of the earliest symphonies composed in Scotland by Thomas Erskine, Earl of Kelly; and then the fiddle playing of Steve Wickham and the voice of Jessie Whitehead with some assistance from members of SBO will lead us through versions of traditional Scottish Airs.
Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites.
