In June the Sligo Baroque Orchestra will present a ‘Vivaldi Special’ performing 5 concerti – a violin concerto; an oboe concerto; a cello concerto; a concerto for just four solo instruments and basso continuo and a concerto without soloist, all by Antonio Vivaldi.
There will also be a performance by Dee Armstrong accompanied by her son Lughaidh. Dee is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and a vibrant force in Irish music perhaps best known as violinist with the band Kila.
And Jasper Yan, a nine-year-old student from Carrick-on-Shannon, will perform works by Debussy and Moszkowski.
Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites. The concerts start at 1pm, but we recommend coming at 12.30pm so you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the wonderful café prior.
About the IMA
Informal Music Afternoons are a series of monthly events, presented in partnership with Sligo Baroque Orchestra, where an eclectic mix of music is performed in a welcoming format in The Model’s Atrium space. The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.
