Informal Music Afternoon in April

Sun. 7 Apr. 2024, 1 – 3pm
€8pp, children go free

This month at the IMA the Sligo Baroque Orchestra will be joined by the Fermanagh Concert Band. Sligo Baroque Orchestra with guest leader Niamh Crowley, play a concerto grosso and suite by the late baroque composer Johann Friedrich Fasch and the G major cello concerto by Carl Stamitz with soloist Anna Houston. Fermanagh Concert Band perform under their director Don Swain.

Informal Music Afternoons are a series of monthly events, presented in partnership with Sligo Baroque Orchestra, where an eclectic mix of music is performed in a welcoming format in The Model’s Atrium space. The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.

Ósta@TheModel will be open from 12 noon serving refreshments and a selection of lite bites. The concerts start at 1pm, but we recommend coming at 12:30pm so you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the wonderful café prior.
