It’s hard not to be bowled over by the infectious enthusiasm of Tine Thing Helseth. On a mission to expand the performance repertoire for solo trumpet, she set about commissioning new works from dozens of composers. In the process she has become recognised as one of the world’s leading trumpet soloists, with a slew of awards to her name and widespread critical acclaim for her clean, open sound, flawless technique and soulful phrasing.
Performing trumpet concertos by familiar names like Mozart, Albinoni and Haydn as well as newly composed works, Helseth is unabashed in her
mission to open up the repertoire to new styles, new ways of making music, and especially new audiences. Onstage, she loves nothing better than sharing details about a favourite work.
