Fiachra Garvey is one of the most promising young pianists in Ireland today. He has a busy performing career in Ireland and abroad and is based partly in the UK, where he has performed in some of the most prestigious recital venues including Wigmore Hall.
Here is what he has to say about the programme he has chosen for his Sligo concert: “I’m delighted to be performing in Sligo for the first time! As 2020 is a big year for Beethoven I’ve chosen his monumental Sonata Op.111, a deeply moving work which words simply cannot describe. It is one of the most profound musical moments in the piano repertoire. I’ll begin with my favourite Bach toccata, the C minor, which I have always had a special attraction to, after hearing Glenn Gould’s famous recording. Then we have the very rhythmic and jazzy Barber Excursions, the four of which are real little gems.
Followed by a Meet the Artist reception. All Welcome.
