Graff work up on Castle Street

YM Graff work up on Castle Street

The brilliant YM Graff work made back in Feburary is up on Castle Street – just opposite the Model Satellite space.

Created by Young Model by using what was then an upcoming exhibition Signals in the Dark: Art in the Shadow of War for inspiration young model worked with street artists Paraic and Kevin McGoughlin during the mid-term break back in February. Based in the Wolf on Arm studio on Wolf Tone Street for the week the young model youth group filled their days making decisions on their images, looking through the daily newspapers for inspiration and quotes from our world leaders that relate to contemporary war.

Once their content was decided on they focused their attention to wondering what street techniques to use; spray, stencil, projections or free hand. Youth from Sligo Youth Reach, Cranmore, Easkey FRC and previous young model members took part. The group together produced a number of street works that represent war as they see it. Their work is now proudly shown on Castle Street on the hording of the old Castle Interiors for all to see. Well done everyone, the work looks amazing!

Big Thanks to Martin Gilroy, proprietor of shop front, for allowing us to install the works.
