At least that’s what the terminally online Teddy believes. With their quarry imprisoned in Teddy’s family home, a battle of wits ensues between the resourceful CEO and her delusional captors. A remake of the South Korean film, Save the Green Planet (2003), Yorgos Lanthimos’s latest is an uproarious satire of conspiracy theories and fake news.

The action plays out in real time in Sardi’s bar in New York’s theatre district, where Hart has decamped to avoid the after-party; as he converses with bartender Eddie (Bobby Cannavale), his struggle with alcoholism, loneliness, and a deep sense of professional and personal displacement is revealed. As Rodgers’ star ascends – his collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II will reshape Broadway, leaving Hart increasingly marginalised – Blue Moon becomes a poignant chamber piece about the painful awareness that a once-golden partnership has irreversibly changed.

Gustav offers Nora the lead role in his new film about his own mother’s suicide, but when she declines, he casts American actress Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning). Joachim Trier, working again with Renate Reinsve, star of his 2022 hit, The Worst Person in the World, uses Gustav’s autobiographical project as a means to unpack the family’s messy history, exposing layers of generational trauma and simmering resentment. Stellan is especially memorable as a director who realises that this could be his final chance to make the film he has previously gestured towards, and to heal the rift with his daughter.
