Informal Music Afternoon in November

Sun. 2 Nov. 2025, 1 – 3pm
€8pp, children go free

For the November IMA, Sligo Baroque Orchestra will premiere a newly composed piano concertino by Emma Purcell, with soloist Aileen Cahill. The Sligo Baroque Orchestra will also perform a selection of works by composer Joseph Bologne. Also on the programme is a performance by the talented Leaving Cert student Leo Tarrant (violin). The Sligo Baroque Orchestra will join him in Mozart’s wonderful violin Concerto in G-major.

Brining a jazz flavour to the afternoon, the Jenny Hallahan Quartet will perform original music alongside works by contemporary composers, creating a sound shaped by modern jazz influences. The group features Cathal Roche on saxophone, Conor Bastible on keys, and Chad Murphy on drums.

The concerts start at 1pm, but we recommend coming at 12.30pm so you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the wonderful café prior.

About the IMA

Informal Music Afternoons are a series of monthly events, presented in partnership with Sligo Baroque Orchestra, where an eclectic mix of music is performed in a welcoming format in The Model’s Atrium space. The Informal Music Afternoon is an ideal way to spend a calm Sunday afternoon. The idea behind this event is to make classical music accessible for all, by means of an informal concert with a relaxed atmosphere in a cafe-style setting. Musicians perform classical works in addition to a non-classical section – often folk, traditional or jazz.
