The Amstel Quartet (photo: Jamain Brigitha) who are coming to Sligo to perform with Irish musicians Maria McGarry and Cathal Roche on Saturday next, 20th September 2008
It;s hard to believe after a year of planning but we’re just 8 days away from an exciting day-long series of concerts as part of Sligo New Music + model::offsite ’08. The concerts have been curated by Ian Wilson and feature works from an exciting range of contemporary composers, led by a significant body of work from Dutch avant-pop composer Jacob TV (Jacob ter Veldhuis). Other composers featured include Horatiu Radulescu, Philip Glass, Stockhausen, Erkki-Sven Tr, Franco Donatoni, Tristan Keuris and Cathal Roche.
We are delighted to have the Amstel Quartet coming over from the Netherlands to join irish musicians Maria McGarry and Cathal Roche (who is baased in Sligo) for what should be an outstanding day of music making.
There are 3 concerts, the first at 3.30pm, the second at 6pm and the third, which features the world premiere of a new work comissioned by the festival from Siobhan Cleary, at 9pm. Concerts 1 and 3 will be held in the Sligo Presbytarian Church on Chapel St and Concert 2 in the Studio at St. Anne’s Youth and Community Centre.
Tickets are on sale now and are €15/12 per concert, or just €30 for a ticket to all three concerts.
All the venues are in the centre of Sligo and very walkable from each other, so it;s the prefect excuse to lave the car at home or take the train if you are travelling to Sligo for the concerts.
