Informal Music Afternoon ; January 2020

THE FIRST informal Music Afternoon in 2020 takes place next Sunday, 5th January in The Model from 1pm - 3pm with a programme of the familiar and unfamiliar from areas of the Baroque and of jazz that we believe will provide a great musical start to the New Year.

Members of the recently formed quartet that performs in a range of styles, but with a jazzy thread connecting it: lots of standards a la Ella, Billie, and Chet Baker, some jazzified folk and some jazzified country, some originals.

These Foolish Things

Siobhan O’Farrell - vocals
Larry Gallagher - Guitar and vocals
Martin Moser - trumpet
Con Schmaucks - drums and percussion

Members of Sligo Baroque Orchestra will perform a sonata for oboe, violins, viola and continuo by Johann Melchior Molter, a dazzling sinfonia by Johann Gottlieb Janitsch and a virtuosic trio sonata by Antonio Vivaldi.

John Flanagan - oboe

Nicola Cleary - violin

Brigid McCafferty - violin

Cillian Houston - viola

Anna Houston - cello

Rod Alston - harpsichord

IMAs are notably enjoyed by performers and audiences alike. They have a notably relaxed atmosphere, a cabaret-style set-up with the Model Café offering a range of tempting snacks and drinks; and always a very varied programme of live music-making. The bright, airy ambience of the atrium is matched by a similar acoustic – perfect for a memorable Sunday lunchtime.Informal Music Afternoons are produced by Sligo Baroque Orchestra in partnership with the Model and with financial support from The Arts Council and Sligo County Council.

Admission just €5 and children go free.

We hope to see you there!
