The Outsider Preview Reception for volunteers

All volunteers are invited to attend a special preview of Jack B. Yeats: The Outsider on Wed. 02 Feb. at 6pm.

This will include a brief tour of the exhibition by curator Emer McGarry and will give volunteers / invigilators a special preview of the exhibition which opens to the public on 05 Feb. The tour will be followed by a drinks reception where volunteers can ask questions and discuss the exhibition in an informal setting.

The event will give volunteers a special chance to see two previously unseen oil paintings by Jack B. Yeats which were once owned by the late British novelist Graham Greene and which aroused great interest when they were sold at Christies, in London in November 2010.

The buyer of both works – ‘A Man in a Room Thinking’, c.1947 and ‘A Horseman Enters a Town at Night’, 1948, has generously agreed to lend both paintings for inclusion in the exhibition.

This special preview and tour will also function as an Information Session for those who will be invigilating during The Outsider Exhibition (06 Feb – 05 June 2011), we encourage all volunteers to attend.

Anyone interested in volunteering at The Model for the Outsider exhibition is asked to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Marian Dunleavy, in advance of this event, by emailing getinvolved@themodel.ie or calling 071-9141405
