The Model is delighted to welcome Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to Sligo this week with a programme of fun-filled happenings and events taking place.
From morning to late evening, The Model will host an exciting range of workshops and concerts, exhibitions and tours for trad enthusiasts of all ages. As well as being a host to official Fleadh Cheoil competitions, we will also present a programme of events through the Irish language including storytelling sessions for children, art workshops and guided tours of current exhibitions.
Highlights
On Friday 15th, we look forward to presenting a very special concert by Ensemble Éiru. This group of seven musicians has composed a suite of new music in response to the current Yeats exhibition The Music Has Come.
Festivities continue late in to the night at The Model as it hosts the Official Fleadh Cheoil Festival Club from 10pm – 3am from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th. Expect a fun night of trad music and more with acts confirmed including Moxie, Old Hannah, The Firesiders as well as plenty of trad sessions.

Jack B. Yeats: The Music Has Come

The Model is delighted to present an exhibition of work by Jack B Yeats that looks at music as a key device in his painting. Throughout his working life Yeats had a strong interest in music – particularly colloquial song that aimed to stir political or patriotic sentiment in the listener. Yeats often sought to capture some of this sentiment in his work, and The Music has Come will consider some of his finest paintings as direct responses to the vernacular music of his day.
