Artist Karl Burke is working with a vibrant group with learning and sensory disabilities. The group have worked together a number of times and have been out to Union Woods twice already, where they explored sound in the forest.

Last week, the project went really well. Celine, Paul and Janet really enjoyed experimenting with making sound using different percussion instruments, such as zylophones, shakers, tibetan bowls, cymbals and a thumb piano. Karl also had a wheelie case full to the brim of percussion instruments and a biscuit tin of stones.

In the forest, they mimicked weather sounds, using stones, paper and the contents of the wheelie case, it was quite hypnotic.

The sounds were recorded by Karl, see the youtube clip below to get an idea of what they got up to.
