Take a nostalgic trip back to the kitsch of the fifties at The Model for a very special screening of the cult movie Cry Baby on Saturday March 29th. Set in 1950s Baltimore, it stars Johnny Depp in one of his first film roles as the dreamboat delinquent Wade “Cry Baby” Walker, a bad-boy with a heart of gold who wins the love of good-girl Allison, a square from the other side of the high school canteen.

The audience is invited to help set the scene by dressing up in their coolest threads, paying homage to the 1950s or emulating the characters from the film. Leather jackets and hair gel recommended! Prizes will be presented to the best dressed chicks and fellas! For this special event, the Pin-Up Pop-Up Salon and Frock Shop will be hosted in The Model between 2-6pm on Saturday afternoon to give you gals retro makeovers for the evening! At the party there will be a vintage photobooth for you to capture those stylish moments.

This screening of John Water’s mischievous musical will be followed by an after party with local DJ Dilly Dream playing a range of rockabilly tunes from the era. Party goers can lounge at the pop-up cocktail bar, serving retro cocktails and sodas throughout the evening. This is the first and only public screening of this movie in Ireland, so be there, or be square!

Doors will open at 7pm, with the screening beginning at 8pm. Tickets are €15 (€12 student or unwaged). Tickets can be purchased on the night or in advance at www.themodel.ie/film/
A percentage of proceeds from this screening will go towards The Donal Parsons Trust.
