Daniel Chester: Artist-in-Residence

Daniel Chester, recipient of the Cara Visual Award 2016 is Artist-in-Residence in The Model Process room throughout November. Chester will run an Open Studio at The Model’s Process Room between 10am-2pm daily until 02 Dec, where the public have the chance to watch this talented painter at work and talk to him about his ideas and techniques.

His current body of work focuses on the rural landscapes of the west of Ireland, the spaces that are left to the elements – uncultivated land, overgrown and wild but also rich in wildlife. Chester, who is based in Leitrim, has shown widely across Ireland. Recent solo shows this year have included exhibitions at the Couthouse Gallery, Ennistymon, Hydebridge Gallery, Sligo and Chimera Gallery, Mullingar. His work is held by Sparkhase Bank, Germany, Bank of Ireland, Leitrim County Council, OPW, Chimera Gallery and in many private collections throughout USA, Australia, Ireland, UK and Europe.

An artist’s talk with Daniel Chester will take place at The Model on Thursday 16 November at 2pm.
