Our classes encourage confidence and support artistic potential while developing your toddler’s awareness skills as they connect with others and the world around them.
Grandparents and child-minders are welcome.
All Materials Included.
Themes will run in 4-week cycles with each week having a new activity and new theme, but repeating the same general theme starting week 5 – 8. All materials are included. They’re tentatively as follows:
WEEK 1 – History of Play and Introducing Design: Play, discover, make friends and learn the beginnings of design. In this colourful three dimensional installation, children are invited to explore shape, colour and constructive design through imaginative and creative play. Then participate in a creative shape workshop.
WEEK 2 – Paint and Print: Use different toys and ‘Things That Go’ to explore mark making and lines. Get messy with paint and explore movement, mark making, develop awareness of colour and imaginative ideas. Work with sponges, foam, bubble wrap and other media to print textures and make artworks to take home. Using different types of printmaking and mark making objects will explore spatial and colour awareness, and stimulate imagination.
WEEK 3 – Sculpture and Construction: Work with natural and recycled materials using glue and string to create assembled structures to break-down, rebuild, and take home. All Materials included. This workshop will incorporate ideas of reuse, spatial awareness, teamwork, creativity, and ingenuity.
WEEK 4 – Puppetry and Recycled Art: Using socks, paper bags, and black paper explore the ideas behind puppetry and shadow puppets. Talk about light, shadows, lines and stories as we work to create our own puppets to play with.
